The Hat and GlovesI remember being a kid, heading to school, and before my mom would drop me off she would ask "Did you bring your hat and gloves?" Of course, I'd groan and respond with some lie, knowing that I had purposefully left them at home. Something about a hat and gloves as a kid almost seemed 'uncool.' At least, that is what 13 year old me thought. Now, as I have gotten older I not only appreciate my winter accessories but I am not dedicating an entire post to them. For Christmas I was so excited to get this lovely Lauren Conrad matching set that my cousin got me. Not only are they my favorite color but they are warm and so well made. I love the embellishment on the gloves adding that little extra sparkle. I have grown to like hats that have the little fur ball on the top and I cannot get over how cute, comfortable, and warm this set makes me. Trendy Winter JacketNow, the winters in Chicago can be pretty brutal, almost to the point where you don't want to leave your house. We didn't get the nickname 'windy city' for nothing, am I right? Therefore, one of the things you should spend a good amount of money on is a nice winter jacket. Now, when I say spend, I don't mean your entire paycheck. Sometimes, it can feel that way when you're shopping for a jacket that is warm, cute, and something that can last. Those type of jackets can normally cost you $125.00 or more. However, these two coats listed above is found on Shein and they are reasonably priced but are also very cute. You shouldn't have to break your budget to find a coat that will fulfill all your needs. I love the colors of both these jackets as well and the detail in the hoods. These two options are perfect for a nice winter wonderland while keeping you nice and cozy. The Snow BootsDuring the winter and some of the spring Hunter boots are my absolute best friends. I know they can be a bit expensive. However, I have had mine for about 4 years now and they are still in incredible condition. If you keep them cleaned, store them in a great place, and make sure to take care of them they will be your best accessory during these cold months. I love how you can choose so many different colors for them. It's no secret that my favorite color is pink so I had to go for the pink Hunter boots. However, you can choose one to go with your personal style or some that match your jacket and accessories. All in all, I know the winter months can be a bit long. It can feel like it's never ending. However, I hope these little must haves of mine have inspired you in some way! Thanks so much for reading lovelies and happy Monday!
Until next time xoxox Rachel

Baby It's Cold OutsideBaby it's cold outside and I don't know about you guys but the weather makes me tired. When it's like this (especially in the 20's and 30's) all I want to do is hide under the covers, binge watch Netflix, and be lazy. The last thing I want to do is get dressed up cute and go outside in the freezing tundra of Chicago. However, there are days when you need to bundle up, get fancy, and put clothes on because you don't want to hide in your home throughout the next couple months (even though we wish we could). Therefore, I am listing my top ways to be cute when it's cold outside. The Big Comfy CardiganYou guys, Chicago can be brutal. Between the cold wind, the icy temps, and the small amount of sunshine; it can make you feel hopeless. Also, I am not a huge pants person. In fact, if I could live in a dress all year round I totally would. Therefore, I am telling you that the big comfy sweater will be your best friend. I got this lovely lilac colored cardigan from Forever 21. It's comfortable, warm, and perfect for an extra layer to a cute bodycon dress. I paired the dress with some leg warmers and some knee high grey boots that I got from Nordstrom. These items complement one another and can give you that extra warmth underneath your coat that you need. The Winter SkirtsNow, you're probably thinking Rachel, c'mon I will not be wearing a skirt in the winter, have you lived in Chicago all your life? The answer is yes, I have, and trust me it can be done. I love these wool and leather skirts because they are a bit heavier than normal summer skirts. Pairing these with a turtle neck and some boots are perfect pinch of glam, class, and of course warmth. Now, if you're like me, and get cold easier than normal, you can go that extra step by putting some fleece leggings or stockings underneath for that extra support. Sweater DressThe sweater dress is your best friend and it will aid you in those dreary winter months. I am obsessed with the sweater dress because not only is it flattering on all body types but it's also super warm. I listed two different type of options because not many people like to wear longer sweater dresses. However, the one linked above is so flattering and the sleeves are to die for. It's perfect for the work day and even a night out on the town. The second, from Lulu's is one you've probably seen before. I love the neutral color and pairing it with knee high tan boots bring it altogether. This can definitely be worn with some cute leggings and a nice scarf and hat set to match. All in all, I know the winter can be a drag. Between the sunlight leaving earlier, and the icy temps, it can be a lot for anyone. You may even feel like staying in more, which is totally fine. However, if you find yourself in a situation where you have to go out, and want to get dolled up, I hope my tips will aid you. Happy Monday loves, don't let the Monday blues get you down! Thanks for reading!
Until next time. xoxo Rachel 2019 New Year New YouI cannot believe that the new year is finally here. Even as I write this it's so bizarre to think that 2018 is officially over. Is it just me or does anyone else not know where the time went? A part of me is excited to start this new chapter of my life; leaving the old one behind. 2018 was a tough year, I like to call it, the rising action chapter of my life. It might have been one of the toughest chapters yet. I had a lot of changes happen, from jobs, to friendships, to family but through it all I became stronger and hopefully wiser. It's funny when you read your favorite novels and you see your beloved heroine/hero go through these tough times you can't quite relate until the same things happen to you. I realized that through faith, love, and friendship you can get through anything. That is why I write new years resolutions every year because it allows me to see how far I've come throughout the story of my life. I am so proud of myself that I have continued to write this blog and let my creativity flow in ways I never thought possible. It has always been a dream of mine to write and have people read, hopefully, feeling the passion through my words. 2018 I discovered my voice in my writing and it made me stronger in developing the overall purpose of this wonderful blog. Not only is this blog close to my heart but I got to help people through it. I got to work with Allstate and give a voice to women who have gone through financial and domestic abuse. I got to be featured in Voyage Chicago and got to talk about my passions and aspirations. So, sometimes as you go back and reflect the darkest times of your life you also notice the rainbows. It got me thinking and I decided to dedicate this blog post to New Years resolutions and how you can go about starting your year on a positive note. Risk + Failure = Blessing in DisguiseThere are so many moments where you don't take that chance because you're to afraid of failing. I am notorious for this, in fact, I sometimes think that I am NOT worthy enough of things that I want. There's times where I think, that blogger is better, or she's got more of the 'look' than me. However, in 2019 I am here to tell you that YOU CAN and you WILL. R.J. Smith said "Nothing hurts a failure but a try." So take those leaps of faith, do something you're afraid of, because you'll never know where your blessing begin. I try to tell myself to listen to that small voice inside, the one that requires silence from the bustle around you. The one that sometimes gets overshadowed by the negative one, that is the one that will never lead you astray. How will you know that you can't do a job, or that you can't handle a promotion if you don't try? So take that dusty road, the one that may seem a bit scary, because it could be the yellow brick road you'd been searching for. Live Life in ColorMy motto is to live life and live colorfully. There are so many times where we get caught up in work, stress, and the bustle of living that we don't stop to see the beauty around us. Have you ever just closed yourself off, put some headphones on, and listened, deeply, to your favorite song? You immerse yourself in the lyrics, feel the vibrations of the tunes underneath your skin, and just feel it speak to you. Those infinitesimal moments of color is what make life so beautiful. Chase those moments and never forget them because they will be your comfort in the hardest times. Be Grateful"Let us be grateful to people who make us happy, they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom." Marcel Proust Sometimes it's hard to see the great things happening in your life, especially when there tends to be more tribulations than triumph. For me, 2018 was my tribulations, or what I like to call my uphill battle year. Most characters in stories have this portion in their stories when they're going on a quest and all these obstacles try to deter them from getting further in their story. We all know that feeling. However, in chapters like these, you always have that sidekick, or friend, or talking animal ( if you're a Disney Princess) that you rely on. I had my friends this year. They were always there to comfort me, to praise me, and to make me feel like I am worthy of anything. That is true friendship and to them I am grateful. All of these beautiful, strong women, never let my crown fall but helped me fix it when the burden felt too great. Be grateful of the wonderful people in your life because you too are never alone. 2019: Time to Lean...2019 is the time to lean, on yourself, on your aspirations, and on the realization that you will succeed. Remember, to put your mind to what you want and never stop striving for that goal. This is YOUR year. Your story isn't over it's just beginning. Thank you all for going through my 2018 chapter with me. I cannot wait to write many more! Also, my shirt was from Forever 21 and I loved the metallic look perfect for bringing in the new year! My skirt was burrowed from my lovely friend Natalie, but it's from T + J Design. The silver sequins is so classy and fabulous. I glimmered like a disco ball all night. Until next time loves! Happy New Year!!
xoxox Rachel Pretty in PinkHey loves and happy Friday! I cannot believe that the end of the year is slowly approaching. I still remember writing my new year's resolution at the beginning of 2018. Now, this wonderful roller coaster of a year is coming to an end. As the end of the year approaches you might be attending an extravagant dinner, or show, and I will be writing a blog post on what to wear for that. However, if you're trying to lay low this year, and struggling to find what to wear I am listing my top three glam shirts to wear when you're trying to lay low! Sometimes, you just don't feel like getting dressed into something long or uncomfortable but just want something fancy enough to wear out. This beautiful pink sequin shirt is the perfect match for the end of they year house parties. I love the ribbon tied in the back showing off a bit of skin. It reminded me of Kate Spade which we all know I adore. I paired it with some pale pink jeans and Steve Madden over the knee high grey boots that I am obsessed with. This is the perfect mix of style, sass, and of course glam! It's a Black AffairNow if you want something a bit darker, more modern and sophisticated, you can never go wrong with black. There's something so elegant and chic about these two different shirts and yet they complement nye perfectly. On the left this beautiful backless sequin shirt can be worn with jeans and black boots or with a nice leather shirt. The same goes with the sweater on the right. Both have that extra sparkle without being over bearing or over the top. Both can be dressed up by adding some sparkly jewelry. You can wear some diamond ear rings or a nice sparkly watch to match. The Golden GoddessWhat I love about gold is it looks so amazing on everyone. Whether you're tall, short, fair or tan it can bring out the best in all of us. Besides, what better time to wear gold than starting off the new year? I love the shirt to the left because it's still simple enough to wear with some dark jeans and some black heels. You can even pair it with a nice blazer if you want to class it up a bit more. I personally like tucking in shirts like this especially because I like the illusion of being taller. However, you do what makes you feel comfortable and beautiful. The shirt to my right can be worn with some black leggings, and you can get some great ones for under 5.00 at Forever 21! The best part about these two shirts is you can rock the glam messy bun to show off your beautiful jewelry and lavish design. All in all don't stress out if you're worried about looking too fancy at a house party or bar. Chances are people will dress up a bit more on nye because it's a glorious time to celebrate. I hope my little tips gave you some great ideas. However, always remember that the shirt doesn't make you but you make the shirt! Have a happy Friday loves!
xoxo Rachel Trick and Treat YourselfHey loves and happy Monday! I am so excited because Wednesday is Halloween which is one of my favorite holidays to celebrate. There is nothing like getting dressed up and being one of your favorite people or characters for a day. I remember my first Halloween costume as a kid. I have always been a fan of Ariel, she was bold, a hopless romantic, and had the best Disney princess hair. I jumped on the opportunity to get decked out to fully become the melodic mermaid. I remember my mother getting my red wig she even went as far as to sow Flounder on my tail. Lets just say I went above and beyond for my costumes. As a child and teenager I remember spending so much money to transform myself into different characters. However, the older I got I realized Halloween can also be about the creative elements. Doing your own costumes can sometimes be the most memorable. If you are like me, and life is hectic, but you still want to be festive this is for you! I am listing some easy DIY costumes that won't break the bank, but will allow you to partake in some spooky fun! I was so excited to shoot this Clueless look. I have always been a huge Cher fan because she was like a real life Barbie. I loved her retro fashion, her confidence in herself, and the entire girly persona that she portrayed. However, trying to find a costume for her was proving quite difficult. Luckily, I stumbled across the Clueless collection at Forever 21! I was so excited to get the graphic T that says: As if and pair it with an adorable black and white striped skirt. The best part about this outfit is that it doesn't just have to be worn on Halloween it can be worn so many different ways. I added a light pink blazer to the mix with some tall knee high black boots to fuse the entire look together. This is a modernized take on Cher's timeless fashion. Funny story while I was shooting this an adorable puppy caught my attention. The owner was walking by and saw us doing our little shoot. She was extremely friendly and was nice enough to let me burrow this friendly pup for the shoot. This lovely canine's name is Sismis which means bat in Croatian. Both he and his owner are from Croatia and she actually rescued him and took him back to America so that he could have a better home. If that doesn't make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside I don't know what does. I was so lucky to meet these two amazing people and I just had to give them a shout-out on my blog. Besides, I think he honestly made the outfit come together. Team MinionMy friends and I decided one year of college to dress up as minions. Now, this is the best costume for when you want to get a bunch of people together and match. It was super easy to do! All you need are yellow shirts, they can be customized however you'd like. You can have long sleeves or short sleeves. We found our short sleeved shirts from Charlotte Russe. Afterwards, we went to five below and found some easy suspenders that we added to our jean shorts. Now, if you're more comfortable wearing pants use jeans opposed to shorts and still get the same effect. For the googles we literally used plastic cups and put them on headbands. Super simple, easy, and altogether so much fun to do! To Narnia: AKA Your ClosetNow, if you are extremely busy and don't even have time to go out and get stuff for a costume, it's okay! I got you covered. There's so many items inside your closet that you could use for a costume. If you have polos, skirts, and ties you can always go as the notorious school girl. Most of the stuff you may already have especially if you were like me and went to private schools all your life. If you have a really tight dress, or outfit you've been dying to wear, utilize it! All you need to do is add a bit of smeared red lipstick and trickles of it coming from you lips and call yourself a vampire! If you have some baggy colorful sweaters, leggings, and head warmers you can turn that into an 80's chick costume. All this stuff is easy, cute, and can be worn again! Halloween can be so fun but choosing the proper costume can sometimes be expensive, stressful, and altogether hard! I hope my little tips helped sparked some ideas. However, if you're still stuck check out this link it will help you with some more ideas! Have a great Monday loves!
Until next time. xoxoxo Rachel Dark Felt HatsI remember being in 5th grade going to one of my first school dances. I was so excited to go shopping with my mom to pick out the perfect outfit. There is nothing more exhilarating and exciting then getting that perfect outfit and taking the first steps of discovering your style. I remember going into Rave Girl, which sadly, no longer exists. It was like an epiphany as I laid eyes on the slouchy black hair with the diamond square embellished on the side. It reminded me of something that J.LO would wear in one of her music videos and I knew that I had to have it. That is when my love for wearing hats started to bloom. I normally don't wear them too often, but, the fall is especially my favorite time to bust out the beautiful different color hats. I am obsessed with this felt hat that I got from Target. Initially I wasn't going to get it, It was a bit out of my comfort zone, but my best-friend and her mom told me that it looked awesome on me. With their blessings and encouragement I decided to get it and ultimately they are who inspired this post: talking about the different hats that I love to wear for fall. Not only is this sweater, shirt, and boots perfect for fall all of them being from Forever 21. This hat also brings out the promise of fall as well. I have a pointy more oval shaped head so I have to be more careful when I wear hats. I don't want anything to swallow my head or make me look gaunt. Therefore, this hat is perfect for my head shape and others as well. It can also be paired in so many different types of ways. The Captain's Hat is made for style and leading because it commands attention. There is such a misconception that hats are merely worn for when you're having a bad hair day. Sure, they can definitely help when you have one, and should be utilized, but they can also be planned as an amazing accessory to your outfit. I am obsessed with the maroons as we talked about in different posts, so, going a bit bolder with color is always fun especially with these styles of hats. However, I listed a neutral black as well because it can pretty much be worn with everything. These hats are also great for elongated face shapes giving that edge and definition that we need. Wool Felt HatsIt is no secret that I am a lover of all the European Period pieces like Pride and Prejudice or Wuthering Heights. There is something so elegant and regal about these hats, gaping our generation to theirs, and that classic elegance is what makes me adore these hats so much. These hats I would wear as we get closer to the winter and colder months but they're such beautiful pieces to use on your head. I love the shape and how decorative some of them can be. I am showing two of my favorite colors from these shaped hats and the best part is that they can be worn any type of way. I prefer to wear it with a wool skirt, some stockings, knee high-boots, and a sweater. That would bring the entire outfit together! Not only making it comfortable and warm for those colder months but stylish as well. Well, I tip my hat to you all and I want to say happy FriYay! Thanks so much again for taking the time to read my post I hope that I have given you some exciting ways to play around with hats! Until next time have a great weekend!
xoxox Rainbow CardiOne of the best things about the fall is being able to layer. I am a huge fan of packing cardigans on over sweaters, shirts, or blouses. This gives that extra little effect to not only keep you warm but keep you trendy. Now, I know I have been talking about a lot of fall attire lately but I wanted to dedicate a post to my favorite little cardigans because sometimes they can be pivotal for outfits. A lot of times people simply just find whichever cardigan is in there closet, or, whichever keeps them warm enough and throws it on over their outfit. Believe me, it's normal, I am even guilty of doing this as well. However, with a bit of planning, and this spread, hopefully I can shed some light on some of my favorite cardigans and how to wear them. I know I keep talking about certain colors to wear for fall. I mention the earthy tones, the bronze, golds, and tans, but that doesn't mean you can't have a bit of color thrown in there every once in awhile. I am obsessed with this awesome rainbow cardigan that I got from Amazon! We all know that I adore colorful things but this cardigan is me to a T. It reminds me so much of a rainbow and I love it. I wore it with a sweater dress that is a Maude colored pink. Pairing this with some small booties brings it altogether. Believe me in this cardigan I can taste the rainbow! The Basic CardiThese are the best cardigans that I ever did see! Not only are these colors neutral, which is nice for wearing with everything, but they are perfect comfort level. I could image wearing a nice white blouse underneath with some jeans tucked into some knee high boots. This cardigan can be worn to the pumpkin patches with some friends, enjoying fall activities, all the way into the work place when you need a little extra warmth while the air conditioner is blasting too high. The versatility is pristine in this because there's so many avenues that you can wear this! The Long CardiI have to admit that I am feeling this long cardigan trend. I am obsessed with these for two reasons, one, they can hide all the unwanted areas, which is always nice (especially after stuffing yourself with pumpkin pie). Two, they give the illusion of being so much taller than you are, which, us shorter people definitely love (Least I do). As the pictures show above they go really well with pants and t-shirts but my personal favorite to wear them with is shirts tucked into either leather skirts or cute fall time checkered skirts. With some small calf boots it will pull the entire outfit together perfectly. I hope that this spread on cardigans really opened your eyes on how to stack them and wear them. They really can be the perfect accessory if you take the time to plan them properly. Until next time I hope you have a fantastic weekend!
xoxox Rachel The Classic BeautyHello loves and happy HUMP Day! I hope you all are having a fantastic week so far. I have always been a lover of jewelry. In fact, I was the girl in high-school that matched all her accessories to her clothing. I am a huge fan of timeless classic jewelry that embody people like Audrey Hepburn who is elegant, beautiful, and chic. I have to admit that I was elated when I was approached by Daniel Wellington to collab with them and help them launch their new stand alone accessory! The New Classic Bracelet is breath-taking. Not only is it timelessly elegant, but, it's perfect for all the occasions that I do throughout my busy schedule. It's feminine and sleek fitting perfectly around my wrist, which is so difficult for me to find sometimes (I have abnormally small wrists). There are also different colors from you to choose from depending on which you feel the most confident in. Here is my bracelet listed below: www.danielwellington.com/us/ I decided to wear my Daniel Wellington bracelet and watch out for dinner with my husband. Sporting the beautiful rose gold colors together really shone nicely against my white sweater dress that I got from Forever 21. I think that it's dainty but elaborate design is the perfect statement accessory for all occasions. It was my husband's birthday on Sunday so I took him out to dinner with his parents and they couldn't help but notice my sparkling bracelet. Daniel Wellington's story began quite some time ago, and his designs are known for their minimalist and romantic feel. I couldn't help but be honored to sport one of their pieces in their collection. If you are interested in also learning more and getting a bracelet of your own you can use my code Michella giving you 15% off online and in store! You can also bring this classic beauty home with you! Women are glorious, we work hard, we're strong, we're as intricate as rainbows and we need statement pieces that can follow us throughout all of paths in life. Thanks again for taking the time to read my blog! I appreciate everyone's feedback and I hope you have a day full of sunshine! Until next time. xoxo Rachel Down For the BrownHello Loves and Happy Friyay! I am so excited that we beat this crazy week and are finally at the weekend. Starting Saturday we're going to hopefully experience actual fall weather, because, let's be honest, it's been in the 80's and 70's pretty much all week. Not saying I'm ready for the cold because I love warm weather, but, I am so excited to start dressing for my favorite season. I have to admit that I was so excited to see some of the trees starting to change colors. There's something so magical about the falling leaves as they litter golden hues along the pavement. Those colors, the warms of autumn, has inspired this blog post! I am going to be picking my top 3 favorite colors to wear in the fall! There's some colors that just pop during the Autumn and the first color I am listing is brown. Normally, I try to stay away from warmer darker tones, but fall is the perfect time to wear it. I have even experimented with brown eye shadow, lipstick, and eye liner. I get a bit fairer in the winter and fall so I have to be a bit more careful with too dark of colors but the browns always bring out the natural tan in your skin. I love this sweater that I got from Forever 21. As you all know I am a huge fan of backless anything, and the back design of this sweater is so stinkin' cute! The browns just doesn't have to be in your shirts or sweaters, but, it can be with pants or boots as well! Anything brown will give that little extra pop to your wardrobe! Maroon in BloomIf there is anytime to wear maroon it is during the fall seasons! I love the colors of the leaves as they change and blend in with the atmosphere of Autumn perfectly. My favorite way to wear maroon is with skinny jeans. This color on bottom is so flattering and goes so well with some brown leather, knee high, boots. Pairing this color with a white or creme is always a beautiful combination. Like the picture to the left I'd wear it with a white button down, a scarf, and a beautiful classic watch. With this outfit you're ready for work and could easily use this for a night of cocktails as well. I also love infinity scarfs and the perfect time to rock them is during Autumn as well! Pairing this scarf with the same color lipstick would make you stand out. Maroon hair and nails are also becoming increasingly popular especially around this time so get out of your comfort zone and bloom in maroon. Burnt Orange: Feeling the BurnGuys I am feeling the burn for this burnt orange attire! You have to be so careful with orange, I personally, am not always a fan of wearing orange. However, this darker, rustic colored orange is perfect for all skin colors and body types. This dress to my right is perfect for a nice rooftop during the evening. Pairing this with a white colored cardigan will bring it altogether, being cute, and keeping you warm at the same time. These pants are perfect for the work day and is such a fun shape. I am a fan of high-wasted pants because they're so flattering so this combo is definitely something you'd catch me wearing during Sept, October, and November. Honestly, fall is seriously the best because you get a taste of warm and cold wrapped up in one. There's something magical about all the colors as well and I had so much fun bringing them to life in clothing for you all! What is your favorite fall color to wear? Message me below or DM me on IG I'd love to hear from you all! Remember, to get out your comfort zone and rock any of these colors, shine like the star you are! I love these colors and hopefully this post has inspired you as well!
Until next time, Happy Friyay Babes!! xoxo Rachel A Timeless PieceI remember being a little girl sitting in front of the television watching Disney movies for hours on end. I could see the summer sun as it shone brightly in the sky all the way to the whimsical colors of the sunset as it began to disappear. Time wasn't of the essence back then because everything seemed to move so slowly. As I got to college my time became more precious and I realized that it sped up and ever since it's gotten more and more precious. Now that I work as an actress and blogger my time is valuable especially when I need to make deadlines or be on time for an audition. Sometimes, my phone, and the numerous alarms can get a bit maddening. I wanted something timeless, something sophisticated, something that described me. I was so lucky to get the opportunity to work with JORD Watches because their collection is bold, a fashion statement on the wrist, and is something I am thrilled to show you all.
