Fit and Flair: Workout WearI use to be so fit when I was in high-school. I used to be the girl who did cheer, dance, and had a practice for some after school activity every day. As I got older, time became more previous, and my workouts have become less frequent. I use to run everyday but now I'm lucky if I run twice a week. I realized the older that I get that I have to take that time to not only nourish my body but my mind as well. It is important to meditate with yourself and do some type of workout to balance out your body. By any means am I am not work-out queen, I spend most of my time running along the lake, or doing Youtube Yoga in my living room. You know, the minimal basics. However, it's those little moments that I take with myself, for myself, that can really help my day run smoother. Finding the right clothing for working out is quite hard. Either I feel restricted, dull, or just plain uncomfortable. I have been looking for something cute, flexible, and something that fits my body to a T. Luckily, I stumbled across Dress2Dazzle at the Chicagogrammers event and I am so excited that I did. It's not everyday where you meet a passionate designer who is working hard to create, cultivate, and empower other women within the community. Not only do that have top notch clothing, but, they also have an amazing active wear that I was so excited to use! The fabric is perfect, allowing me to breathe when I do my runs, exercises, and of course my You-tube Yoga. The best part is that there's so many different workout outfits to choose from and literally, they are all amazing! I love style and while wearing these outfits I'd feel comfortable going out in them. I am obsessed with backless wear and Dress2Dazzle has! My favorite is an amazing workout jumpsuit that is backless and it's absolutely gorgeous. Each outfit fits with your body and allows you to glow with any exercise that you tackle. Each outfit is versatile to you, meaning, it's geared to your comfort which is what I love about it. I am not always comfortable wearing a two piece workout attire so the jumpsuit inspired wear is definitely made for me. It elongates me for those perfect stretches allowing me to twist and turn when I need to. There's also so many fun colors to choose from so you can be as creative as you want, getting fierce in your workout wear! If you're looking to gain more information about their workout attire and clothing in general, you can check them out on IG @dress2dazzle or on facebook linked below! Sweet Sweater and Jean SkirtGuys I did something so productive the other day! I am actually quite proud I got to clean out my closet (which seemed like a museum of clothing) and put most of my summer stuff away, taking out my fall clothes. It's almost getting to the middle of Sept, which is unbelievable, time needs to slow down a bit. As I was going through all my fall inspired wear I decided to bring out my older sweaters and start hanging them up. It reminded me of a conversation I had last year with a co-worker. We got into the discussion of winter and fall. She said she hated those months because there is never anything cute to wear. I disagree and I think the sweater is one of the most underrated items of clothing. Sweaters have a sweet spot in my heart and I am going to dedicate this post to my fav ways of wearing a sweater! The first way is sporting that sweater with a nice jean skirt. I was so excited when I found both these items on sale at Forever 21! Altogether, these items were under 30.00 which is amazing. My best friend has a sweater similar to this, her sister gave it to her, and I love the stripes and all the different colors that this sweater has. It reminds me so much of the retro sixties and how colors of the rainbow were fused together. Pairing a sweater with any type of skirt is always fun, you can tuck it in, like I did (because I'm on the short side). It elongates the body and gives it that much more sophistication. Or you can leave it out wearing a nice longer skirt underneath. Leather time is here as well so bust out those short leather skirts ladies with those high-heeled boots! It's the perfect time to done your fall fashion! Also, can we talk about this adorable bamboo bag that my dad bought me back from the Philippians? Super cute! I am listing where to get these items below. SWEATER: www.forever21.com/us/shop/catalog/product/f21/sweater/2000242968 SKIRT: www.forever21.com/us/shop/catalog/product/f21/bottom_jeans/2000262378 'Sworts' (Sweater with Shorts)It's still at that awkward time where it's hot but not that hot, and there's a slight breeze but freezing at night. Therefore, the sworts look is perfect! There is something so chic about wearing a nice knit sweater with some shorts. My favorite is wearing lighter colored sweaters, with some statement jewelry, and pairing it with white jean shorts. You can wear boots, knee high preferably, with this, or some nice flats whichever makes you comfortable. These khaki draw string shorts, on the right, are to die for and they just embody fall attire so perfectly. Not only is this comfortable but perfect for those weird fall days when the weather is more dysfunctional than a Monday morning. OUTFIT 2 www.instagram.com/p/BiPZDEDgT1b/ CHEAP SWEATERS: www2.hm.com/en_us/productpage.0666448001.html Swagging in the LeggingsGuys I saved my favorite and the best for last! It's legging season, meaning you can wear the best pair of bottoms, in my opinion, that a woman can wear. Not only are the leggings super shape and form fitting, but, they are also so comfortable and can be worn perfectly with longer sweaters. There's so many types of leggings that you can buy, leather, stretchy, tight, the options are limitless! I personally love the off the shoulder baggy sweater with a nice pair of leggings and some boots. An outfit like this is perfect for pumpkin picking which is also something I love to do come fall! You can have so much fun decorating this outfit with costume jewelry or with elaborate scarfs which I will be talking about in another post. I am listing some of my favorite places to buy leggings below! HIGH WASTED LEGGINGS: www2.hm.com/en_us/productpage.0243613004.html CLASSICKNIT LEGGINGS www.forever21.com/us/shop/catalog/product/f21/bottoms_leggings-reg/2000192535 All in all the options are so endless when it comes to creating your favorite sweater combo! Remember to have fun and make it yours! I love hearing about your combos so either list them below or message me on Instagram! I cannot wait to see. Once again thanks so much again for taking the time to read, I hope these tips helped! Until next time
xoxo Rachel Jacked in my Leather JacketYou guys I am so excited because we officially got our first little taste of fall this weekend. It's like I could smell it in the air, the wind is crisp, the trees are starting to shed, and there's this unspoken beauty that Chicago is beginning to have, getting ready for fall. I have to admit fall is one of my favorite seasons and I know I talked about getting fit for fall before. However, this spread is dedicated to jackets! I know, they can sometimes be a bummer, but jackets can be the perfect accessory for any fall time look. The one that I am sporting personally is one of my favorites. There is nothing sexier than wearing a classic leather jacket. I have to admit it reminds me of that scene in Greece when Sandy sheds her sweet girl persona and rocks the leather pants, off the shoulder black shirt, and of course the leather jacket. There's so many styles that you can implement while wearing this timeless piece but I started off with a nice polka dot blouse and mustard colored pants from forever 21. I wanted to do an edgier look but still keeping the classic pops of color in my style like I normally do. Mustard colors always seem so much brighter in the fall air among the golds, reds, and oranges. Another great part about jackets is that you can do your hair is so many different cool up-dos that you normally wouldn't do in the summer. I had a bit of fun making a hair crown around my head. The leather jacket can be worn for a fun night out with the girls or can be worn in the day as a statement piece, either way, it's literally perfect for fall! Jeaned Up!The jean jacket is another one of my favorites and it goes so well with fall. Not only is it comfortable, classy, and keeps you warm, but there's something oddly romantic about it. Everyone who knows me knows that I am a hopeless romantic. There's something about those old romance comedies, where the guy hands the girl his leather or jean jacket, it really tugs at my heart strings. However, over the years fashion has allowed women to sport their own jean jacket and it looks so cute on every body type and height. My favorite way to wear it is with a body con dress because it slims the waist and body perfectly with this style. Ladies, it is time to bust out the boots and I am so excited because nothing goes better with a jean jacket then boots. Don't be afraid to experiment with colors, the jacket can go well with pretty much everything, so take that time to play around and see what you feel comfortable in. Long Sleeve Drawstring JacketI love these drawstring jackets, not only do they keep you warm, especially when it's getting closer to the winter months, but there's something so cute about them. I love how versatile they can be and they come in so many different colors as well. I personally like the lighter color ones because they can complement the darker colors that you wear underneath. Pairing this jacket with a nice pair of leggings, or pants, is perfect for a casual day out running errands, getting lunch, or meeting up for some much needed girl time. Jackets can be so much fun, I remember being in high-school hating wearing jackets because I thought they covered my outfit. Now, as I've gotten older I realize they can be a real statement piece if you know how to plan properly. This fall don't let the cold weather get you down. I hope these suggestions will help you prepare for this lovely fall season. Until next time loves!
xoxox Rachel Who said you can't wear white? They say that you can't wear white after labor day, but, I've never been the person to follow all the fashion rules. If you did where would the fun in that be? Normally, I am a colorful person, matching and fusing different funky colors together. However, as we get closer to that awesome 3 day weekend I know a lot of people have been wondering what they could wear for Labor day. Between bonfires, bbqs, and beaches the options are limitless. However, since some people believe it's a huge NO NO to wear white afterwards, I am listing my top favorite labor day outfits incorporating the color WHITE! Maybe just maybe I might persuade you to change your mind. The Black & White Lined SkirtThe fall is slowly approaching and that means that the longer, sweater looking shirts are coming back into style. I love wearing these because you can pair so many different accessories with this shirt. You can get an infinity scarf which is always my fav, or you can go with some nice decorative jewelry to bring the entire outfit together. I paired this black long sleeved shirt with a black and white lined skirt from Forever 21. I love these solid colors fusing together and this outfit would be perfect for a nice Labor day party. It's simple but fun and the best part is you can make it more 'going out' friendly by adding these adorable pumps that I also got from Forever 21 as well. Maybe you want to keep it simple so wear some nice comfortable sandals to make it more casual. The options are endless with this one, so have a bit of fun playing around with it! The White RomperNothing says sophistication like a lace or sheer white romper. I am obsessed with rompers because they are so multifaceted you can wear them casually or in a club. It all depends on the heels you pair it with, the make up, and the proper jewelry. I picked these two awesome rompers because I think both would be ideal for the Labor Day weekend. Imagine eating all the barbecue you want and not feeling self-conscience because rompers can be form fitting and flattering for all body types. Just make sure you don't go too hard and spill some zesty red on the white. The first romper is from LULU's and the second is from Shophearts (PS THE SECOND IS BACKLESS WHO CAN SAY NO TO THAT?). I am listing both items linked below! ROMPER 1 www.lulus.com/products/american-honey-ivory-lace-romper/288252.html?utm_source=pinterest&utm_medium=ppc&utm_campaign=americanhoneyivoryromper&pp=1 ROMPER 2 www.shophearts.com/products/open-back-crochet-eyelet-romper The White SkinnyI will only say this once but I absolutely love white skinny jeans. There's so many different elements to them, they can be ripped, stretchy, or perfectly sculpting and it's that versatility which makes me love it so much. I am a huge fan of wearing a jean shirt tucked inside of white skinny jeans. Not only is it super cute and colorful, but it's also classy and perfect for any occasion and body type. The skinny jeans are great for when you're going out to meet some friends for some drinks or eating at a family's cookout. They're also perfect if you want to keep the party going for a night on the town, let's face it, it IS a long weekend, might as well live it up. If you want to be comfortable pair it with some nice nude flats, or colorful ones, if you want to dress it up add some fun and funky heels. My favorite ripped white skinny jeans are from American Eagle and they are currently only 29.99! They are 50% off which is not bad at all! I am linking them below! LINK: s7d2.scene7.com/is/image/aeo/0433_1312_138_of?$PDP_78_Main$ Overall, don't let certain rules define who you are! Fashion is about discovering you and having fun along the way. I love the long weekends because it's the perfect way to catch up with the people most important to you, whether that be friends, family, or the significant other in your life. Make your time meaningful, enjoy yourself, and I hope that these white essentials will make your outfit ideas a bit easier!
Until next time!! xoxox Rachel Creatively YouHello loves! I have been so busy lately, between jobs, catching up with friends, and doing events. Time is fleeting so I cherish the small moments when I get to wear something casual, comfortable, and still me. I know we all have those moments where we want to throw on a comfortable shirt, put a hat on to hide those 'messy hair' days, but still be fabulous at the same time! Therefore, I am dedicating this post to how one can be casually chic. I love graphic shirts especially ones that can truly describe who I am as a person.I am a DREAMER, in fact, I have always been that way since I was a small child. I was the doe eyed kid that would always follow my heart, even when it was far fetched. As an aspiring actor you have to be wishful and always dream for the best. I also was obsessed with this hat, which made my bad hair day seem a little less 'bad'. Besides, who doesn't want to identify with being a boss lady? This outfit gave me confidence in all the right ways, but it was also comfortable and so easy to walk around in. My schedule has been crazy, so I definitely wanted something very casual but cute. I received these clothes from Kirbé which is a street chic brand to inspire, motivate, and empower women. It's always nice to find clothing lines that want to uplift the everyday woman, as well as inspire them to be the best person they can be. The owner, Kirby, is extremely sweet, and has such a passion for what she does. Kirby is inspiring because she moved to NYC to pursue her dream of being a fashion designer. She continued to strive to pursue her dream and became a total boss lady by creating Kirbé! Her mission is to empower and show all women that we can do anything, it aligns with my mission as well, so I was so thankful to rep these amazing styles, it also helps they are extremely chic! Kirbé has a lot more items to offer, they're stuff is amazing, plus you can get 15% off using my code rachel15! Something I am also passionate about is female youth and a portion of their profits are donated to non for profits that support that! If you order items that are $75.00 or more you can get free shipping! if you're interested I am going to link their website below! LINK: www.shopkirbe.com/ Boyfriend T with shortsThere is nothing better than wearing a boyfriend T, with a nice long cardigan, and sporting some ripped shorts. It's going to be that time of year when the weather is extremely warm in the morning/afternoon and freezing at night. This is perfect for those casual days when you have to go grocery shopping, or going to get lunch with a friend. I love that this boyfriend shirt empowers strong independent women because let's be real there are some awesome women out there! This shirt can also be bought on www.shopkirbe.com/ Don't be Afraid to Hat it upOkay ladies let's be real for a second, we've all been there when we're tired, don't feel like putting make up on or maybe have used a little bit too much dry shampoo. Those are the days where we may feel not as glamorous as we'd like to. That is OKAY it's normal, but my favorite thing to do is wear a nice little hat to make my wardrobe pop a bit more. I love this pink cap but it comes in different colors as well. I love the fall because you can start to see all different types of hats make their way into the fashion world. The best part about hats is that they can hide a bit of your face, if you're having a tough break out, or if those bags are a bit darker than normal. I also like it because on my bad hair days it seems to tame my hair a bit more. You can purchase this hat below. HAT: shopkirbe.com/accessories/boss-lady All in all there are going to be days when you're tired, drained, and maybe a bit out of the ordinary in your look. It happens to the best of us, I hope on those days you remember that you're still beautiful! I also hope that my little hacks can help you feel the best that you can possibly feel.
Thanks again to the wonderful Kirbé for keeping me chic and allowing me to channel my inner dreamer/boss lady! Until next time xoxo Rachel The All American GirlHello loves I seriously cannot believe that it is almost fall! I swear the summer months zoomed by. However, I have to admit that I have been bit by the fall love bug. There's something about the crisp leaves, darker hues, and brisk air that brings a smile to my face. Summer of course is one of my favorite months but there's something about fall fashion that has a special place in my heart. I know we're heading towards that beautiful time of year so I wanted to list my top three favorite fall wears! My first being this awesome shirt, skirt, and boots from Forever 21. Fall can also mean going back to school and for all my college followers this outfit is perfect for that first day back to classes. I call it my All American girl look because you see a lot of this style depicted in teen age chick flicks. There's something so comfortable and cute about a button up shirt tucked into a mini skirt. I've never been a huge brown girl, but, for fall it's always fun to bring out the neutral colors and rock them. Of course, being me, I had to pair it with this fun colorful mini skirt because even in the fall you can add pops of color. I am obsessed with these maroon colored boots. They are super comfortable and can be practically worn with everything, jeans, shorts, skirts you name it. I love versatility and you can wear each of these items more than once which is key for when you are going back to school (and have that college budget). This outfit can also be worn on a fun girls night out. I'd wear this to River North when I am experiencing a new dive bar or viewing live music at Millennium Park. Also, apple picking time is soon approaching! How cute would this outfit be among the trees and beautiful red colored apples?! Skirt: www.forever21.com/us/shop/catalog/product/f21/bottoms_skirt-mini/2000261358 Similar Shirt: www.forever21.com/us/shop/catalog/product/love21/contemporary-main/2000287429 Boots: www.forever21.com/us/shop/catalog/product/f21/shoes_boots/2000124069 The BasicsNow lets take it back to the basics! Nothing says fall like a nice knit sweater, preferably off the shoulder, some comfortable jeans, and a infinity scarf. Whenever I think of fall I think of sitting in a coffee shop, with a warm cup of coffee, a book in hand, watching as the leaves fall. There's something beautiful about minimalist fashion and I recommend everyone get their scarfs and jeans out anticipating fall's arrival. I love pairing bright colorful scarfs with black, grey, or maroon colored sweaters. Keep the bottoms simple, dark wash jeans and white jeans are always my favorite to wear around this time of year. Now, don't fret, buying new fall clothes can always seem a bit daunting but I'm listing some sites below where you can get those new clothes within a great budget! Sweater: www2.hm.com/en_us/productpage.0635957001.html Jeans: www2.hm.com/en_us/productpage.0494691006.html Scarf: www2.hm.com/en_us/productpage.0607552001.html The Sweater DressGuys, this is my all time favorite thing to wear during the fall. I love how romantic and regal the sweater dress can be. Pairing this off the shoulder dress with some knee high boots is my favorite thing to do. Not only is the sweater dress flattering to all different shapes and sizes, but, paired with the right shoe it can make you look way taller than you actually are! (which is always my mission) No matter how you look the sweater dress can class you up. I love the fall because you can put your hair in a messy bun, pair it with this outfit combo, wear a maroon colored lip, with no make up, and look as chic as can be. I feel like the fall brings out all the natural colors in one's face, hair, and eyes which allows you to pop, bringing out your natural beauty. I personally always go for the form fitting sweater dresses because it gives the illusion of some curves especially if you're on the petite side. It can also extenuate for those luscious divas that has an abundance of natural twists and turns to their body. I am going to list some inexpensive options for you below! Dress: www.revolve.com/about-us-aubree-sweatshirt-dress/dp/ABOR-WD41/?d=Womens&page=1&lc=11&itrownum=4&itcurrpage=1&itview=01 Boots: www.aldoshoes.com/us/en_us/p/52739050-98?gclid=CjwKCAjwwdTbBRAIEiwAYQf_E4iMcNY22-iM2axAhM3hkoyfLd97dpo_K7FYh--VTxx3AgNxjypRkBoCkVAQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds&dclid=CO6D7fPQ8twCFYyryAodMXwDlA Fall can be the best time for fashion! A lot of the times it's about layering and embracing the neutral colors that you don't get to wear often in the summer and spring. I for one am excited for my scarfs, boots, and leggings. We can also look forward to the colorful changes, the brisk night air, and the hot apple cider. I hope these outfits are getting you in the fall mood, besides, we all cannot help but FALL in love with this beautiful season of change!
Until next time. xoxo Rachel Lovely in LilacHello beautiful ladies I hope you all are having a fantastic start to your week! I recently had some friends come up to visit. It's so nice catching up and having 'girl talk'. As we were talking we got into the conversation of dating and how confusing and sometimes stressful it can be. Especially, when it's in the premature stages of going out and meeting someone for the first time. I had someone inbox me and ask "what should I wear on my first date?" I love answering questions, especially ones that allow me to fully dive and hopefully help more women out that are thinking the same thing. First dates are already weird because you're completely putting yourself out there to someone you don't know. Think about it, you can only know a bit about a person by talking through text, or listening to their voice on the phone. The next step is taking that leap of faith to meet them. You have so many questions run through your head: Do they look the same as the pictures, will they like me, or I wonder if he's nice? All those questions and more can get you down and make meeting for the first time that much more nerve wrecking. The last thing you want to worry about is what you are going to wear. Therefore, I've come up with three outfits that would be my go to if I was going out for a first date. Keep in mind, you can spice these outfits up to make them your own, but this can hopefully give you some ideas on where to start. My first outfit of choice is this lovely lilac colored romper that is from QUAINT. Rompers are always my go to because they are sexy and feminine only showing off a bit leaving the rest to the imagination. Lilac is, in my opinion, best for all different types of skin tones. It's so flattering and is just that right amount of color that one needs to make them shine. For shorter people, like mwah, this romper fits perfectly allowing me to show off a bit of my leg thus making me look a bit taller. I am wearing a size xsmall and it fits perfectly, not too tight, not too loose. The best thing about rompers is no matter what size you are you can shine in this! Show off your beautiful curves and feel confident while doing so! This print is also one of my favorites and the off the shoulder look is something that gives such a lovely element of romance. I couldn't find the actual romper online but here is the website, check it out, they have some wonderful pieces listed! QUAINT: quaint-official.com/collections/all-products Lady in RedWe are at that awkward time of the year where summer is ending and fall is slowly starting to creep up! Sometimes, it's hard to know how to dress for this insane weather that Chicago is having, let alone, for a first date. Yet, you can never go wrong with a lovely red dress. There is something about the color maroon, it dotes the mood of passion, mystery, and overall seduction. This beautiful satin dress will be perfect for a nice date night going out for drinks at a bar, to a nice restaurant, or if you're doing a walk by the lake. I love this color because not only is it perfect on every skin tone, especially with a matching lip, but it's also bridging the gap and getting us ready for fall. I love these black booties paired with this outfit and the same colored choker. Wrap dresses are great because it slims the waist making everyone feel comfortable, sleek, and extremely sexy. I found a similar dress and the best part is it's only 19.99! Link below! LINK FOR DRESS: www.zaful.com/satin-wrap-mini-dress-p_540820.html Strutting Your StuffThird, but definitely not least is this wonderful pants piece. It's put together if you're doing something a bit more active. Let's say your date wants to take you out for a stroll through the park, or walking through Navy Pier. This is great because this beautiful mustard colored pants are not only striking but comfortable as well. This mid-rise design can give anyone a flattering silhouette. The best part is you can make it as dressy or as casual as you want. Like the photo, you can add some lovely heels to the mix and make it a bit more spicy, or you can dress it down, by simply wearing sandals. The white shirt is perfect, showing off a lovely amount of skin and bringing the outfit out all together. I would where this any-day and I think it's important to keep a bit of yourself within your fashion because you never want to sway too far from what makes you you. These lovely Hyde pants are located here: LINK TO PANTS: www.shoppriceless.com/products/hyde-pants-honey?redirect_log_mongo_id=5b70b8239e86ff004d8a9437&redirect_mongo_id=5b2452c4a563fc002306a496&sb_referer_host=www.pinterest.com&utm_campaign=Trackable+Links&utm_medium=Web&utm_source=Springbot The most important information of all is left for last. Always remember to do what makes you feel comfortable! These are purely examples, something to make you think, or lead you down the right path. I know that first dates can be odd and a lot of times it throws you out of your comfort zone. Remember, that no matter what you wear, how you act, or how nervous you are that YOU are beautiful. Being comfortable in yourself, and confident in who you are is the best thing you could ever do.
I hope you all enjoyed these quick tips and hopefully if you are getting ready for that first date you'll rock it! Until next time. xoxox Rachel Yellow polka dot skirtI am obsessed with polka dots in everything I wear. Not only are they super girly and fun but they can add a bit of sophistication to your wardrobe as well. Now, if you're associating polka dots with your old childhood dress, or shoes you wore with ribbons in your hair, it's time to re-examine the polka dot trend. Not only can you wear polka dots on your pants, skirts, and shirts, but I am even seeing them on shoes as well. Versatility is key for me because I want something I can wear for all the seasons as well. Thus, polka dots are my favorite, because they can be matched with different items throughout the year. I paired my skirt with a bright highlighter teal shirt. We all know I'm a color addict so I had to brighten this yellow polka dot skirt, from J Crew, with a lovely blouse that I also got from J Crew. This look is perfect for a summer night, either in the business office, or night out with some friends. Either way you will be a ray of sunshine as you strut your stuff in this awesome summer polka dot combo. Although this item is out of stock you can find some awesome polka dot skirts here on the J Crew Website! I know a lot of people get scarred to put such a bold pattern and incorporate it into their everyday life. Fear not, I will be like your best friend, giving you insight into how I like to pair the items together! Fall In Love With The Polka DotWe all know work is a huge part of our everyday life. There is this stigma that we have to dress casually allowing all of the creativity of coming up with different patterns to be obsolete. However, this outfit is perfect for a autumn! Can you feel the crimson leaves crunch underneath your feet? Can you spell the pumpkin and tender breeze against your face? This outfit is ideal because not only does the mustard skirt complement the tied blouse but the polka dot sweater adds a bit of fun to a very casual outfit. I love the bow tie trend because it's super classy and exciting. My neck is one of my favorite parts of my body and lovely bows, like these, accentuate your neck making it look long and regal. Until next time! xoxo Rachel Lost In a FairytaleGuys, I remember being a little girl, running around in my mom's dresses and heels, screaming to Disney movies at the top of my lungs. I would stare in awe at all the princesses on the television screen feeling enamored by their glorious gowns. I remember thinking, wow, I want to be like them and wear something fit for a ball. I felt just like a Disney princess in this lovely dress from Pink Lily Boutique all I needed was my pumpkin carriage. I think blush is perfect for the summer it fits so nicely against sun-kissed skin, but this dress comes in a bunch of other colors as well, all of them pastels. I love how the dress dips low in the back allowing you to expose all the lovely curves and inclines of your body. There's a fine floral mesh on top of the dress which makes it much more special for any occasion you'd be wearing it for. I always have a harder time with maxi, or long length dresses, because I am on the shorter side. Longer dresses tend to almost swallow me up. However, this dress fits perfectly, I did wear three inch heels underneath, but it didn't drag on the ground what so ever (Short people problems). I know a lot of weddings are occurring, it's summer lovin, and a lot of people are tying the knot! The best thing about this dress is it's elegant enough to wear for an engagement shoot, or can be worn to a wedding. My husband and I did a small mock engagement shoot just to show how romantic and fairy-tale like, this dress can actually be. I felt so much like Princess Aurora being whisked away by her Prince Charming. I have always been a fan of fairy-tales, damsel in distresses, and far away lands, so this dress was perfectly fit for me. Unfortunately, I couldn't find the dress on the boutique's website, they are out of stock, but I found someone selling it here! I have a lot of friends who are getting married this year but I have also seen a lot of people getting engaged. Therefore, I decided to list my favorite place to take engagement photos. I almost wish my husband and I would have utilized this fountain for our photos. Not only is the space gorgeous, giving off a Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth Bennett field, but you can also show your city pride by capturing a bit of the Chicago skyline in the background. I know it's a bit touristy, but, if you go later on in the day, at sunset, you can get not as much of a crowd and such jaw dropping pictures. I had to drag my husband to take photos with me here. Even though he hates taking pictures, he even had to agree that these came out pretty well. If you're searching for a beautiful, simple place to shoot your engagement photos in Chicago, I highly recommend at least taking one photo at Buckingham Fountain. Also, there's parking all along the street so you can carry your bag of changing clothes in your car, if you want to do a wardrobe change!
Thank you all again for reading my post! I hope you all have a happy HUMP day! Until next time! xoxo Rachel I've got the stripesHey loves happy Thursday! You have officially made it through most of your week. You're one day till Friday and I know you can do it! I decided to do something different for this post. I recently allowed some of my followers to ask me question. One of the questions that I got was, you look so great in everything you post, is there something you feel insecure about? That question kind of stunned me to be honest. I wanted to message back in capitol letters, DUH I AM HUMAN THERE ARE THINGS I AM FOR SURE INSECURE ABOUT! Yet, it made me flattered that someone out there believes that I, to them, feel so confident in my photos.
I am human, like I said before, and there are things that I don't always feel comfortable in. I think bloggers sometimes seem extremely confident and glamorous but there's times, I know, I don't feel the best in my skin. I have never liked wearing stripes. There's something odd about them, I don't think they're flattering, and I feel like they direct people's attention to the areas I don't want them to be looking at. At first, I was going to carry on and do a regular post, talking about clothing and different items that I am wearing. Then I really thought about it, and it made me truly think, wow this is one of the realest questions I've ever gotten. This may be an issue other women face so why not shed some light on it? I to want say I don't care how beautiful you are, even the most secure can feel a bit of insecurity sometimes. Therefore, I decided to find something out of my comfort zone, stripes, and dedicate this post to it. This orange colored striped dress is from Forever 21. I was hesitant to get it when I saw it a couple months ago. I idly came out of the dressing room to show my friend, and she insisted that it looked lovely on me. I decided why not, plus it was one sale, so it seemed like a win. This dress is low cut, which is also out of my comfort zone, I have never been the bodacious person to show a lot of unnecessary cleavage. If that is for you, I say, go GIRL let it show. Therefore, trying to hide as best as I could, I got a small safety pin and fastened the top part of the dress so it didn't show as much. I paired this dress with a floral coral and orange colored necklace that I also found at Forever 21, it was on sale for 5.00! Can you believe it, I love it when I get sales. I think it's funny how some things that make us feel uncomfortable maybe seen differently to others. I didn't feel 100 percent secure in what I was wearing but people kept coming up to me telling me how much they loved my outfit, and how lovely I looked with it on. It's weird because I almost wanted to ask them "really are you messing around with me?" What I am trying to say is that the definition of beauty is so constricted in our society. If you don't fit the mold of, beautiful, you start to second guess everything about yourself. I believe every girl, no matter their shape, size, color, or economic status is beautiful. We will have the days where we feel the least desirable, but, it just means we're human and it happens to the best of us. My challenge for you all is to break that comfort zone, whether it be wearing a color you find awful on yourself, or a certain style you'd never wear. Break that mold and try something new! You're beautiful, it's not the clothes that make the woman, but, the woman that make the clothes. Until next time thanks for reading! I love you all. xoxo Rachel |
