The Christmas holiday is one of my favorite holidays of all time. In fact, as soon as Thanksgiving is over I am in full Christmas mode. If it were acceptable to sing Christmas songs all day I would.
Since getting married my husband and I have been trying to fuse our traditions together. For example, his side of the family puts up the Christmas tree the day after Thanksgiving. They celebrate by watching old Christmas movies and picking out ornaments each year for their tree. They now have decorated their entire tree with significant ornaments that they've collected over the years. Did I mention that they cut down their own tree? I got to witness them pick a tree and helped them cut it down! There's something so magical about choosing your own tree and planting it into its new home, which is your home.
I really liked that tradition so for our first year our marriage we got a wine Christmas ornament and a married Christmas ornament to commemorate our first year together as a couple.
My family puts up Christmas decorations a couple weeks after Thanksgiving and begin putting gifts under the tree immediately soon after.
My husband and I wanted to make a tradition of stuffing our stockings with candy and we bought a fireplace to really heighten the feeling of Christmas.
One of the things I love about Christmas is the spirit of giving. I not only enjoy shopping for people I love but I love giving to others and being cheerful while doing so.
I'm hosting a Ugly Christmas sweater party next Saturday and I'm quite excited because I love being surrounded by people I care about, besides, isn't that what the holidays are all about? From garland hanging on the door frames, to the smell of hot coco and eggnog, everything about this time of year is amazing.
I would love to hear everyone's Christmas traditions because I find different cultural rituals fascinating! I hope everyone has a fantastic week and wonderful holiday!
Until next time!
