First, happy August first darlings! I cannot believe this summer is flying by so quickly. I am continuing the Kate Spade challenge by trying to complete at least one of their pictures a week. I was excited to do this challenge because I am an avid explorer and I adore learning about different places and experiencing different foods.
It was my friend's birthday and as a group us girls decided to do something Unexpected. We were growing a bit tired of the regular Chicago scene, so we decided to do a fun little getaway to Milwaukee!
I had been there before but during the winter and I was pleasantly surprised when I went back during the beautiful month of July. If you're looking to get away and want something remotely close to Chicago, I suggest you whisk yourself to Milwaukee! Kate Spade is correct sometimes you just need to get away. It's nice to drive and feel the open wind in your hair, or blast the music as you cruise down the expressway. It's the little things in life that make you smile.
It's not that difficult to do a little weekend getaway, my friend found a awesome hotel room even when there was a game and festival going on. Since all of us liked to experience different foods we did a Milwaukee tour (Tacos and Tequilas)!
The people were quite friendly there and before even attending the tour we got offered to do a boat tour for only ten dollars a person! We got to cruise on the lake, with our own drinks (it was BYOB) and peddle the boat while blasting some exciting music. It was definitely a thrilling experience and I recommend everyone try it if they have the chance to.
Afterwards, the tour took us to great authentic Mexican restaurants where we got to try a taco like dish, tamales, and fajitas that were to die for. Oh, did I mention there were also margaritas and tequila sun shines as well?
The tour guide and group were great and I loved spending time with my friends. We laughed all night talking in the hotel room and woke up to get some air, walking around downtown, and stopped at a cute little brunch place called Cafe Benelux. They had a rooftop so we got to sit, get some sun, and try some amazing food! My friend and I split their breakfast burrito, which had cheese, potatoes, and queso drizzled on top of it. It was perfection!
All in all, if you're looking for a small getaway but are on a budget it is doable to travel! Look for deals, stick to someplace close and remember to always have fun! Life is short, so experience the sunshine while you can.
Until next time! Maybe your smile always win over your frown!
